So, I've decided that having Colors for the DS would really kick ass. I allready own a DS and an 8 gig microsd card, so I pretty much just need the flashkart (I think?). So.. I'm thinking the CycloDS http://www.dealwoot.com/index.php?t.....ategory_id=184 but I dont really know about the addons there, like, auto firmware updates? Are they that hard to update? also, the EZflash 3-in-1? CAn anyone shed any light on this?

Now, the R4 Revolution is the flashkart that the Colors site reccomends, but I'm not sure if that's because it's actually better, because it's cheaper, or because the people making it are SUPAR BEST BUDS with the dude that wrote colors. Also, there appears to be 2 versions- http://www.dealwoot.com/index.php?t.....ategory_id=165 http://www.dealwoot.com/index.php?t.....ategory_id=184 ...

So..anyone with some experience in this have any input?

I feel like violating my own self imposed NDA on new art ;p

So, lately I've been sharking CA.org, and I've been really inspired by the character progression things where they have a (usually b&w) speed paint of a character and go layer by layer of clothing, from like, a starting character to a badass one.

Here's an Ahkanan rogue specializing in firearms. For some reason, I always complete a nude layer. It helps me figure out how the stuff on top of the skin works. He does, however, have his biorifle in the nude, so, that counts ;p aww lookit the baby bio launcher...

So now he's got some clothes he could pass off as civilian, and a couple lines installed for bio armor not to mention the scaffolding for some second skin type armor. Bio launcher is a groty teenager! It fires bigger orbs!

Adult Launcher rifle fires two orbs at once, and they are potent. Our rogue has bought himself the second skin, and a nice backpack symbiont and a parasitic mask (you can just barely see the two seams, three creatures are hugging his face. His armor has some mirrorlike bits that protect him from lazer fire, which he will need as his gun is no longer a hide and shoot kind of weapon...

If I add a next step, which I totally could, he'd get more armor symbionts and the loose hosing would start feeing inwards. Maybe if he got payed super well he'd be able to buy some drone symbionts ;p The bio rifle has one final life stage, in which it is impregnated and the orbs become little parasite eggs. So one hits you, you and your buddies get splash damage, but you get the added bonus(?) of a little maggot burrowing into your flesh. Yay!

Next up, I'm starting a female Krind, Void Knight. Again, the nude. Krind void knights arent ostricized like other VKs are, instead they are sent in to handle jobs that the other assassins are too rough for (such as capturing things alive...) and they specialize in interrogation. Much armor and fishhooks and void (think anti-plasma. Extreme cold that sucks light and heat out of an area) to come on her. Oh, also, Krind are supposed to be wasp waisted and wraithlike, but VKs are even more so, hence the hips and stuff.

Also happening, character customization stuff. See, even though I plan a pen and paper release first, it's always my goal to do this MMO style. I just..um..like it. I can set up a quest, and hundreds of people can play it. All the math is hidden, it's just story, interaction, gameplay. Ahh...
so if you were at the character creation screen, these are some of your options for customizing the head of an Enush

By the way, in case you forgot or I forgot to post about them before, here's what they look like full body nude

and if they were animated, they'd have an LED pulse running the length of their 'eyes' and steam would be coming from the little holes in their horns and faces, as well as out of some of their joints. (old ass gif, gonna need to click on the thumbnail, and then click again to fullveiw to see it..)

That's all for tonight. Hope you guys enjoy!

I just posted this for someone else...but!

If you or a friend of yours becomes gluten intolerant, please do keep this post in mind. I'll add to it whenever I get a question. I know I still need to cover pastas (a lot of them suck..) and recipes and stuff :)

RESTURAUNTS AND EATING OUT

You are looking at a loooot of Mexican- it is inherently more gluten free when authentic. Qdoba's is great, I like the nachos they have there a lot- it's more or less a burrito but instead of a flour tortilla they put in a ton of corn chips and tasty queso. Just about any Mexican place that has any authenticity, you can trust their 'hard' tacos and tacostadas and the corn chips. If the corn chips look woo whitish, or if they dont have that corn aftertaste, stop eating. Naked (tortilla-less) burritos are good too, but I feel you get more for your money out of nachos.

Quiznos salads may be your best friend. Tell them no flatbread and ask them to send the meat and cheese through the oven. My personal favorite is the Black and Blue. If you make it a meal, avoid the sun chips :( sadness..

In sports bars and American food joints, if you cant get a satisfactory salad, they usually can do buffalo wings -breading. the Adkins diet actually did a lot to help celiac folk, many places wont question you if you ask for something minus the bread or breading.

Avoid soy sauces. :( La Choy is a safe brand, most Chinese joints use Kikkomen though which does contain wheat. Seitan is another name for wheat gluten, which they fry like tofu. In general if it's sort of brown, dont eat it. Moo Goo Gai Pan is safe, and to be honest I try not to think too hard on the fried rice and grin and bear the consequences :( no noodles, Hot and Sour Soup is iffy, egg drop is okay usually, as are clear broths in general. The whole range of barbecued stuff is usually a-ok, and unless the resturaunt is more american than chinese, it's very possible they use rice flour to bread their breaded items. Ask!! The waiter can usually tell you or ask the chef, and rice is actually a better breading medium than flour.

Italian...you're kind of screwed. Basic meat dishes, salad -croûtons, stick to oil and vinegar because a lot of places use wheat gluten to stabilize their dressings T.T Also gravies and white sauces are very dangerous. Avoid Italian whenever you can, it's an exercise in sadness :(

I've heard Outback has a gluten free menu...but I cant verify this.

SHOPPING

Breads. There are a lot of varieties of breads for celiac's...DONT BUY "FOOD FOR LIFE"! it's like a damn brick! A lot of gluten free breads require toasting to be really edible, but that brand just sucks. Unfortunately it's also very, very common. Glutino and the whole foods house brands are what you want- and they even make nummy scones and fresh cookies too! Unfortunatley I have yet to find a good french bread.

Last but certainly not least...Pizza. At whole foods they sell a few brands of pizza and pizza crust. The crusts are kinda meh, but, there's one brand that pretty much only puts out a three cheese and a spinach pizza that is awesome. It's better than some wheat pizzas I've eated. George's is okay too, it's more expensive thought and not quite as good. If you arent vegan, double check gluten free foods to make sure the dairy in them is real, as nice as it is that there are gluten free options for vegans....it just doesn't help the taste or consistency for omnivores and vegetarians :P

ALCOHOL

Watch your alcohols. All hard liquors (gin, rum, bourbon, whiskey) are safe. Beer is not. Malted is not. I have found that good hard ciders more than replace beer- you just have to find the right one. Woodchuck is too sweet for me, although the Dark and Dry is tasty and the Amber is good from time to time. My favorites are Strongbow, followed by Original Sin, followed by K. K is cheap as hell, by the way. I advise against the Woodchuck Pear cider (vomity aftertaste), Hornsby, and absolutely the worst cider I've ever drank, Woodpecker. Beware specialty ciders that say they are organic or old fashioned- usually all that means is you get apple chunks and they are selling you normal apple cider that they let sit in a cupboard. :X

Mead is also usually A-ok, but do check it for rye, barley and wheat. I had some honey meads at Nambroth's place that was delicious..

Wine is across the board A-ok. One thing I've found about gluten free life is that since you cannot have a lot of junk foods, you tend to drink a little more :/ not a lot more, just a little. It's probably still better for you.

CANDIES/SNACKS

First off....
Red no.5. I'm sorry. Red 5 and a lot of red dyes are derived from wheat :( I just avoid pretty much all red processed foods. The confectioner's glaze on M&M's and a lot of "____ in a candy shell!" type things? Yeah. Wheat+dye+sugar+water. The good news is that cheesy poofs and potato chips and rice cakes are pretty much safe- do check it if it has a flavor coating though, ESPECIALLY RANCH. Wheat is often used as a binder to keep the spices on the chip. Doritos is especially bad about that- fortunately they have plenty that are okay including Nacho Cheesier. Generally, non-red hard candies are fine. Chewy candies need to be checked. Mentos is completely off limits, sorry :( Reese's peanut butter cups are fine, though, if you like those :) Nut thins you can even get in Target, they are amazing. Even if you dont like nuts. try them.

CEREAL

Woe was me when I realized I couldent have Cheerios anymore. For cereal I recommend Cream of Rice for hot cereal. Add butter, salt and brown sugar, it's good. Oatmeal is very, very risky- the jury is out on whether oats are okay but most celiacs avoid oats.

Enviro Kids makes a couple gluten free things. Peanutbutter Panda Puffs are good :3 Also, Barbara's makes "Puffins", which come in a variety of flavors and are delicious. Puffed rice and corn flakes are fine, rice crispies are fine, corn and rice chex are fine. Corn pops are not, along with a huge list of others :(

Lately I've been Friendship brand California Style Cottage Cheese, mixing it with hass avocado and sprinkling it with brewer's yeast for breakfast. Eat that with some nut thins or spread it on toasted Glutino flax bread. Yum.

IN GENERAL-

Remember that;

You need to take vitamins like B vitamins to replace what you would have gotten from wheat.

Most people are so dumbfounded about this allergy that I dont think they think when they ask what you can eat. I know, I know. "You cant eat wheat?! What about bread? Donuts? Bagels? OMG YOU CANT EAT BAGLES WHAT ABOUT MUFFINS?!!" They are just trying to wrap their heads around it. It does show how much of a disconnect there is between some people and their food though.

You will become wretchedly tired of salads. Dont be afraid to ask the waiter about altering things- like potroast sans gravy and biscuits and so on. If you need to, explain that this isnt a fad or a choice, it's medical. Ask if they have an Allergen Information Sheet if it's a chain place- at best you'll have a checklist right there for you and at worst..you'll have my experience where the guy thought I wanted a Braille menu. Oh, south carolina...

After a year or so, you do forget a bit what wheat was like, and that helps. You dont think about it as much and the wheat free foods you have taste better to you. Right now, I only really, really miss two things- convenience and french bread with brie.

Always always read the ingredients before you buy something.

Modified Food Starch on a label= wheat gluten :(

Xantham Gum is 12$ for a small pack...but it is used in teaspoon increments and it makes a world of difference.

Whole foods is your friend. There are gluten free grocers online that ship by the cooler, but honestly you are better off shopping at whole foods for the gluten free items or baking them yourself. Sadly, Trader Joe's isnt awesome with the gluten free thing.

These are my aunt's two dogs. The white one, Bluebell, has just been diagnosed with cancer. She has no children, and is driving from Derry, NH to Boston twice a day to visit Bluebell in the hospital. I love my aunt, and she really, really needs help as the bills so far are climbing past the 4k mark. Her husband is in danger of being laid off, and she is a freelance photographer who loves animals. Even if you yourself cannot donate, please please please a hundred times please repost this video.

all donations are being handled through the MSPCA, NOT through my aunt, this is NOT a scam. This takes less time to post than a meme or a personality quiz, and it does a whole lot of good and causes me to send many less-than-threes in your direction.

If you do donate, I will paint you an extra special badge or a feather as though you had commissioned me, just get some sort of confirmation from the MSPCA if I dont know you directly.

Thank you so much for your time, and please, repost this.

Crossposted from DA, please pimp this! XD
*******
Hallo folks!

I'm going to experiment with something here. I will have a fair few chunks of time to my lonesome this winter. No one is large enough to guarantee a full painting, but all of them are enough time for sketches and inks! So..I'm testing the waters here and offering a sale on pencil sketches, inked work, and inked work with marker or digital cell color. I've been goofing off in these media all semester, and I feel like the style is working pretty well, I'll upload some things to DA in a few days when the last of my finals hath been slain. Everything will be a character on a blank background, varying from my acid-free 11x17 sketchbook of doom paper to funky Japanese papers I pick up and devour.

Prices!
Pencil sketch- 10$. That's it, just 10$!
Inked- 20$. I do some serious inks these days, using a variety of pens, quills, brushes and markers.
Inked+color- 30$.

All payment is to be sent beforehand- I take Paypal, cheques, money orders and well-hidden cash, if you would rather give me a credit card number than I might be able to arrange a normal credit or debit payment through my mother's shop.
Looking for something specific that isnt listed here? Ravenous for a refsheet? Going bonkers for a new badge? Pining for something on specific paper? Note me and we'll talk :)
All orders will be completed in timely manner after the 15th of december.
and yes. Questions or comments, I love notes. I'm nice and not bitey I swear :)
http://blackmane.deviantart.com
*******

This was the first song I ever found and then went "Oh my god, I have to have this." Tiki and I must have reset the playstation a dozen times, we each went out and bought the album 'Darkest Days':)
That really started defining who I am as a person, that album, then Issues, Metallica S&M, One Hot Minute, Jagged Little Pill, and then Mechanical Animals and the Downward Spiral. Sure I've branched off, but I owe these guys a lot- I dont give a shit if they're too mainstream or too dark or whatever the bone-of-the-day is. I'm glad I got to see SW before they broke up- I havent heard much from the band they became, but, I should look into that.

And Golgol Bordello. Hells yah!

I feel such a great love right now for art and friendship. I struggle with both from time to time, worry too much at times and too little at others. Sometimes it takes seeing an image struck across a whole damn wall in light, sometimes it takes watching the eyes of someone speaking passionately about something they love to remind me just how lucky I am. Every now and again I get to see the fire in people, even a spark and I swear it is contagious.

I'm leaving this post public because it is so important that we all realize these things in our lives that are so important. Whether I interact with you online or face to face, if you took the time to read this and feel what I say here, it is one more spark being passed. It's more important than we realize, I know I am guilty on many counts of taking for granted being surrounded by so many wonderful people. I go into class and I'm with people that have fires burning and smoldering inside of them, and my own furnace glows brighter. I come here and even through this mad collection of threads and tables I feel the fires burning inside of each of you. It is wonderful. It is joyous. I knew times where there were no other fires, and mine burned only in spite of that. I'm glad that is no longer the case.

Thank you, whether I've known you forever or for a few months, for when it all comes down to brittle bones and dust; you are what made life as a sentient being worth experiencing.
